What is happening now?
Choose the closest situation. Use the latest notice and do not assume a query or hardship request changes the printed deadline.
Six Queensland rules worth knowing.
The issuer, offence type and fine stage matter. A camera infringement, police-issued ticket, council fine and SPER order do not share one review process.
Act from the issue date.
For relevant traffic infringements, you generally have 28 days to pay, establish an eligible plan, transfer the fine or elect court.
Payment finalises the fine.
Do not pay if you intend to transfer or dispute it. Keep a copy of every notice and submission.
No good-record caution.
QRO says it cannot offer leniency on a camera-detected fine merely for a good driving record or financial hardship.
Send the query to the right body.
QRO handles camera-detected fines; the issuing QPS station handles on-the-spot police fines; councils handle their own parking fines.
SPER options are separate.
A payment plan may stop or prevent action. Eligible people may use a Work and Development Order through an approved hardship partner.
SPER has strong recovery powers.
Action can include licence suspension, wheel clamping, seizure, wage or bank deductions and interests registered over property.
